Guns Listing ID: 394185 The Lee-Enfield No.1 MK III* was probably the most iconic and popular SMLE (Short Magazine Lee Enfield) rifle that was serviced by the British and Commonwealth nations. The SMLE was a modernization of the bolt-action military rifle at the turn of the century. Due to the short swing of this cock-on-close action design, the rifleman did not have to remove his face from the buttstock, thus maintaining his sight picture while cycling rounds. This led to the famous British 'Mad-Minute', a standard of British riflemen, where they were to shoot a man-sized target at 300 yards, 15 times in one minute. This rifle gave a significant advantage to the user via its quick action and 10-round capacity. This rifle was manufactured by Enfield in 1917. This rifle comes with a sling and is numbers matching.
