Description:
This is an all-matching, non import-marked World War 1 British Army Webley Mark VI revolver manufactured in 1916.  Given the somewhat early manufacture date and the lack of original finish remaining, there is no doubt that this old warhorse revolver served in combat with the British Military during the Great War.  Originally chambered in .455 Webley caliber, this Webley has been modified to fire .45 Auto Rim cartridges or .45 ACP cartridges on half or full-moon clips by shaving the rear of the cylinder.  This was likely done in the 1950's to take advantage of the cheap and plentiful U.S. Military .45 ACP surplus ammunition that was available on the market.  Whether this modification was done by an individual gunsmith by order of the owner or by a company that imported the gun into the States, there is no way to know as this gun is NOT import marked.  More description to follow.
