Description:
BSA Royal Featherweight in ultra scarce .243 Caliber. Perhaps only the 4th such rifle I have ever seen offered for sale. One of my all-time favorites, this is an excellent example of this little known sporting rifle in virtually impossible to find 243. This rifle is identical in configuration to the 30-06 that I carried for about 25 years as a sheep hunting guide here in Alaska. They are wonderfully light at just a tad over 6 pounds, shoulder and point beautifully, and NEVER fail due to their old-world craftsmanship and robust CLAW extractor. They are among the finest sporting rifles ever made and are virtually unknown and underappreciated by the average American sportsman due to the low number of them that are in circulation. The specs on this one are as follows: S/N 11B*** made in England during the mid 1950s. 22" slim profile barrel with factory milled muzzle break, slender stock with sculpted Schnabel fore-end tip, factory scalloped left receiver wall for weight reduction, factory scalloped and drilled bolt handle also for weight reduction, factory dovetailed receiver top with detent specifically designed to accept the superb Parker Hale scope mounts. Several other popular brands of claw type scope mounts will also work perfectly on these dovetails. There are also four non-factory 6-48 drill holes into top flats of the receiver for the more common 2 piece screw in style bases. Still a beautiful and desirable rifle in about 97-98% condition and one that would likely require a long wait to ever improve upon.
Please see my other listings for a nice pair of the scarce Parker Hale claw scope mounts. They do cover nearly all evidence of the extra screw holes on this rifle's receiver top if you so desire.
