Description:
SOLD PENDING FUNDS RECEIPT. THANKS DAN! Parker Hale Whitworth three band Rifle with Hexagonal rifling of .451 Bore. Has Parker Hale Cartouche on right hand side of the stock. Barrel is marked "Parker Hale Birmingham England" in front of the rear sight. Also marked "Sir Joseph Whitworth's pattern rifling .451 cal." on left side of barrel. Serial number is 35448. 36" barrel with perfect (or very near perfect) bore. Has been shot little. Rate of twist is 1 in 20". You can shoot Hexagonal paper patched bullets or long round conicals. I always used 475-485 grain conicals with about 90 grains of 2F black for superb results. The round bullets bump up in the bore to hex shape on ignition. Rear sight is ladder style if elevated, and front sight is a white bead on a post protected by a hood. Overall length is 51 1/2" and weight is approximately 9.5 pounds. Length of pull is 13 1/8". Uses musket percussion caps. Manufactured by Pedersoli in Italy. Superb overall condition, no cracks or chips in stock, blue is very nearly 100% intact. I believe these to be the Apex of muzzleoading. I used this rifle to take a very large Bull Elk in Colorado. There is simply few things more effective than a very long for caliber bullet. Penetration is complete, and accuracy simply off the charts. I don't think these are made any longer today, unfortunately. Thanks for your interest. Feel free to call, or email with questions.
