On Hold Sale Pending. US Springfield Model 1873 Mass. (State of Massachusetts) 45-70 caliber marked army rifle. Full 2 band good walnut stock with ESA cartouche and circle P behind the trigger gaurd. Full length barrel with front and correct early 1873 leaf sight with spotless screws. The lock is marked US Springfield 1873 with the American eagle.????? the correct high arch breach block is marked Model 1873 US eagles head with crossed arrows. The metal finish has turned a thinning smooth brown color. The bore is fair, the lock and breach block functions fine. The front of the breach is marked Mass and the but plate is stamped 2 for the unit or rack number. This rifle is complete with sling swivels and cleaning rod.
