Description:
Excellent example of the Winchester 70 standard rifle in ultra rare 7MM (7mm Mauser, 7x57) caliber! Less than 1500 7MMs were ever made representing 1/4 of 1% total production. S/N 81*** with matching scribed bolt made in 1948 making this a doubly rare transition era rifle with a combination of very unique factory features only seen on a handful of rifles made between 1946-48. It retains the Pre War clover leaf tang, but has a smooth topped and factory drilled rear receiver bridge more conducive to scope use, a hot blued barrel, and special safety lever sometimes referred to as a "clam shell" or "rabbit's foot" safety. Overall condition is excellent with all original finishes and components showing about 98% Blue and 97% Varnish. The 24" barrel has an excellent bore and all mechanical functions are working smoothly and properly. An extremely difficult rifle to find in unmolested or uncontrived condition and while not perfect, this one remains in highly collectible condition. Shipping from Alaska is $75 via Priority Mail with full insurance in a custom cut foam lined box for maximum protection. Credit card users please add 3%.
