Perazzi SC3 Live Pigeon gun.  12 gauge O/U made in 1968.

This is a very interesting configuration:  31 13/16” (32”) long barrels.  A flat 7/16” wide, non-tapering vent rib with a metal front bead.  The bores are both .727” and so marked 18.4 and weigh 3 lbs. 8 oz. and so marked K1.6.  Choked:  .024” (IM) on the bottom and .047” (XF) on the top.

The stock has a semi-pistol grip with round know and very “straight” dimensions:  1 ¼” drop at the comb; 1 ¼” drop at the heel; 14 3/8” length of pull over the age-hardened Perazzi ¾” vented recoil pad.  There is a cast of ¼” at the heel and 3/8” at the toe that favors a right-handed shooter.  The stock and forearm were fashioned from an exquisite piece of walnut, done in a caramel-colored finish with extra fine checkering.

SC3 engraving in a rose and scroll pattern was beautifully done on this coin finished frame.  Taking a close look at the engraving, the wood, the barrels and the fit/finish, it is quite evident that these early guns were painstakingly hand completed!

The overall weight of the gun is 8 lbs. 4 oz. and it balances nicely between the hands. Mechanically excellent in all regards.  Cosmetically other than a few handling marks in the wood, this gun is 98%.  So although this gun is 53 years old it spent most of its time in case and was apparently rarely used!

Cased in the correct vintage Ithaca/Perazzi take-down case with stock tool and the correctly serial numbered second trigger group that is top-barrel first.

Unlike many older guns this configuration Perazzi SC3 is a relevant for today’s shooting sports as it was 53 years ago when it was made.
