Description:
SOLD PENDING RECEIPT OF FUNDS. THANKS FRED! M2 Springfield US .22 LR training rifle. Good and bad news here. First the bad news: this rifle has been blued. The good news is that it was very nicely done, and the entire rifle is in superb overall condition. Bore is perfect. Matching bolt, with electro penciled Serial number that matches the receiver, as it should be. The proofs on the receiver, barrel band etc. are not rounded off badly or highly polished. The quality of the bluing is very HIGH. Not a cheap job by an inexperienced gunsmith. Almost all of this finish is intact, and the rifle has obviously seen very little use since being blued. The rifle has the correct Lyman 48 rear sight, and has a Lyman globe up front with a post reticle. Correct sling swivels and Checkered steel buttplate. Rifle was tapped (as were many M2's) for Unertl type, more likely a Lyman Targetspot or Winchester A5 scope. Filler screws are in place. Bolt is unaltered, save for the bolt piece and cocking shroud being blued. Stock is beautifully finished, and shows nothing but the most minor of handling marks. NO cracks, splits or chips. This is the flat bottom pistol grip "B" variation, and was an M1 converted by Springfield to MII specifications and is so marked on the receiver. Bolt marked M2 also. One correct parkerized Magazine is included. Barrel date is 6-37. This would be a great example to use as is, or to use as a Sporting rifle as one sees fit. These are wonderful bolt action .22's that have served as the foundation for some of the best sporting rimfires in existence. This rifle, at this price, gives the buyer lots of options.
