Description:
70K serial range. It has the extra 2 screw holes in the side that have been plugged. There is quite a number of guns found in this serial range with 2 plugged holes. It is said that these were intended to be made into carbines. That is where the saddle ring would have been. There were made into rifles instead. 24 inch full octagon barrel and full length mag tube. Original sights. Wood is in very good condition. Original shotgun style buttplate. This was correct on the early 38-40 cartridge Model 1873's. All metal surfaces brown patina with traces of original blue showing through in protected areas.
