Description:
This is a gorgeous and quite scarce version of the already rare Dornaus and Dixon Bren Ten 10mm pistol which was the brainchild of the legendary "Father of Modern Pistolcraft" Col. Jeff Cooper (RIP). This is a Marksman Special Match, one of of only 250 such guns manufactured in .45 ACP by Dornaus & Dixon exclusively for The Marksman gun shop in Glenview, IL in the mid-1980's.
The pistol is double action/single action (DA/SA) and can be carried in double action mode or "cocked and locked" in single action. The trigger and other controls are smooth and crisp. The safety lever can be switched to the opposite side for lefties. This pistol is in excellent condition inside and out with minimal signs of any wear mostly along the slide rails and edges of the muzzle. (The shiny spots on the flat surfaces in the photos are just oil smidges). The serial number is MSM102 which is visible on the left side of the frame and also on the underside of the slide as seen in the photos. It has a blued steel alide and stainless steel frame which is correct for the Marksman Special. Many of these guns received an aftermarket chrome finish on the slide to make it look like the gun Sonny Crokett carried on the TV show Miami Vice, but IMHO that only detracts from the gun's originality and 'correctness' from a collector standpoint.
The sale includes one .45 ACP dedicated magazine and correct original owners manual (note the label on the front and extra addendum pages unique to the Marksman Specials). The factory cardboard box is correct for this model but was marked for a different serial number (MSM152). This is one of the most collectible pistols in the world today.
