Description:
Grant London Best Hammerless 12 gauge TopLever Sidelock in very nice condition with newer replacement barrels by the maker.  Gun 7370 built for the Fifth Earl of Clarendon, Edward Hyde Villiers, Lord Chamberlain for both Victoria and Edward VII, in 1902.  Barrels replaced in 1962 by maker.  Barrels believed to be made by James Yates, son of Thomas Yates, known Birmingham barrelmaker (note JY stamping on barrel lug).  Barrels fitted for AGL by T. Thatcher.  Confirming documentation for both original gun and replacement barrels from AGL.  Classic Grant with beautiful leaf shaped fences and truly elegant period scroll engraving.   Forend suffered a crack and had repair done to barrel side, preferring to keep original complete.  Stock in excellent condition, without cracks or damages.  Stock capped by thin horn buttplate.  A true Edwardian Best gun of its era.

Shotgun completely gone through 2020 cleaning, adjustment, and evaluation.  Ejectors, triggers, locks in excellent condition.  Grant ejectors, Chilton locks with Boss style intercepting sears.  The new thin horn buttplate with engraved screws added 2020. Excellent stock dimensions for this very shootable classic.  Tight on face.  2 1/2 inch proofed 28 inch barrels choked IC Right, 3/8 Left, measuring .006 R and .016 L, with bore at  .729 both.  Barrel rib engraved "Stephen Grant & Sons, 67a St. James's Street, London".  Minimum wall thickness .029 both barrels.  Provided in period case with correct Grant case label.  An Edwardian Best gun, shootable and fully field ready.
