Description:
This is a beautiful, carefully complete for the period (monopod, sling, and dust cover, are new) slightly refinished due extreme battle damage, example of this great battle rifle. The barrel is very good and I have taken it out to the range. It makes nice groups at 50 yards (I can't see much further anymore) It hits about 1.5 inches at about 7:00 o'clock from center, which is an easy fix. (pistol-type dove tail sight adjustor) It is rust-blued and the storck has been refinished but not with the original stuff which is rather poisonous. This does not mean that all the blemishes are taken out-just refinished. I am not Bubba and do only what is absolutely necessary to bring them back to life from junk. Look at the pictures. This will take out any game in North America except a Grizzly head-on. If you're into iron sights, it is great for hunting white tail in Michigan where you can generally see only a couple hundred yards and less. It would also make a fine wall decoration.   The ballistics are similar to the .308 and almost exactly the Brit. .303. Weaver makes a designated plate to mount a scope (two 8-40 screws-solid-rather than 6-48) over the action but you'll have to bend the bolt. Timiney makes an excllent trigger that incorporates a differen safety. This is only if you want to use this as a real rifle, not a collector's item, which would be an ignominious end for a battle rifle. Steinel and a number of other companies make the ammo. I have the specs for reloading and they're easy. You can contact me for them. The parts are all authentic for the period in which it was manufactured although some of them don't match. (This was a battle rifle, for cryoing out loud, not an armory spare.) It has an intact MUM. This thing is beauttiful, at least to my eye, has spirit and took much more work than I'll ever get for it but it was enorrmouis fun!
