.38 CENTENNIAL AIRWEIGHT STAINLESS MODEL 642 HAMMERLESS J FRAME, 5 SHOT REVOLVER, #BFY 5XXX, MADE ONLY 1990-1992. One of the best of S&Ws "snubby" small frame designs, this stainless airweight with internal hammer is about perfect for pocket or purse carry. Chambered in .38 Special, this round butt double action is small and lightweight. Only made for a couple of years and then re-introduced as the Model 642-1 (etc.) with the dreaded "hammer lock and key" feature etc. This one looks about unused. It has red nail polish (?) applied to the front sight serrated ramp for better visibility- and it works- easily removed if you want. Alloy frame with stainless cylinder and barrel marked "AIRWEIGHT." A classic and useful revolver.
