Quality Copy of the Popular ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY
Here we present a “BRITISH CONSTABULARY” Double Action Revolver in .450, made circa the turn of the 20th century in Liege, Belgium, this one imported into Marseille, France to a retailer named Aug. Vernier and is stamped as such on the top of the barrel. This revolver was a handy-sized, sturdy, well-built self-defense weapon, ideal for potent conceal and carry in the beginning of the 20th century. The name stamped into the top strap invokes it’s the original revolver that this one was modeled after: the Royal Irish Constabulary revolver by Webley. This was a very popular revolver known for its quality and use by law enforcement agencies in Britain. The maker of this revolver wished to capitalize on a vague and similar title. The quality is fortunately worthy of the name.
The overall condition is fine. Original nickel finish. The action is excellent in both double and single action with solid lockup. The bore is in very good condition with sharp rifling. The grip features very nice hand checkering.
Barrel is 3-1/8 inches.
