Description:
Another “ESTATE” firearm listing brought to you from Dust 2 Dollars who prides themselves on showing the complete gun in high quality pictures along with a detailed description for your consideration.

We offer you a “GORGEOUS” Engraved Thomas Turner Underlever 12 Gauge Double Barrel Hammer Shotgun with “RARE” 30” Chopperlump Damascus barrels.

Thomas Turner started his career as a barrel maker at Court #5 on Aston Street in Birmingham England. This shotgun is marked on the rib “Thomas Turner, Market Place, Reading”. He was at the Market Place, Reading address from 1834 to 1851. Which dates this shotgun being manufactured from that time period. This fine double has an extremely rare feature of chopperlump Damascus barrels. As far as is known only one man in the English gun trade ever managed to produce these barrels. His name was Henry Parsons and he would leave his mark on the barrels beside the other proof marks. His mark is a forging hammer which both barrels display as shown in the pictures.
The 30 inch barrels appear to have been blackened at some point during the last 171 years. They show signs of pitting on the bottom of the barrels only as shown in the pictures. The rest of the surfaces are in excellent condition as you can see. Both bores are in excellent condition with no issues. They are very bright as are the chambers which are 2 ½ inch. The markings are all shown in the pictures for your consideration.
The engraved receiver is silver in color with the engraving being in excellent condition with no sighs of pitting anywhere. The hammer both function as they should and the action is tight. The forearm is in very fine condition with no cracks, chips or repairs. The butt stock is in the same condition with the exception of one very small chip at the toe as shown. The butt plate shows some light pitting as you can see in the pictures but overall is in fine condition. All of the serial numbers that could be found on the gun are matching.
