Winchester Model 1873 Third Model. Manufactured in 1883. Standard Sporting Rifle in 38-40 caliber.  24" octagon barrel, full length magazine, and crescent rifle buttplate with sliding trapdoor. Antique serial number is in the 155,000 range. Comes with Winchester letter stating recieved in warehouse 1884.

Original sights include semi-buckhorn rear sight with standard blade front sight.  Overall Condition Grades to the level of NRA Antique Good with 20% original blue remaining on the receiver. Some patches of blue along the rear portions of the frame behind the sideplates and in protected areas with the balance having turned to a smooth brown patina.  Barrel and magazine tube are similar to the frame with 20% discernable original blue that has darkened with age towards the protected areas with the balance turned over to a plum patina.  Nice markings throughout including the 38 CAL on the brass loading block (See Photos).  The wood is good overall.  It's solid with no repairs or extra holes.  The forearm has what can be called wagon seat wear from stiiting the rifle against the seat of a horse or mule drawn wagon while in motion. There are various small dings, scratches, and bruises.  Has not been sanded and the wood fits up nicely to the metal and isn't undersized.  Action works nicely and everything functions. Lever stays up, firing pin still indexes. It has a good shiny bore with good rifling, no rings or bulges. Some filling in of grooves near the muzzle end which is fairly typical of an old Winchester from the black powder era.  Nice clean 1883 Rifle in good condition.  Antique, No FFL required under Federal Law.

Zelle, cashiers check, money order or personal check accepted. Layaway OK.
