Lefever D grade with ejectors. Quoting Robert Elliot on page 65 from this book Uncle Dan Lefever Master Gun Maker, “I never met a “D” grade Lefever that I didn’t like.” This is an uncommon grade and pretty rare. Lefever Arms didn’t make too many of them. Approximately, 2400 produced. They do not come up for sale very often.
A little history on this gun. I bought this gun ten years ago and it needed some attention for the stock.  I sent the gun to Classic Gun stocks for a partial restoration. Cracked stock repaired and restored. Barrels polished and blued. New butt plate installed. Barrels set back on face, triggers re-plated silver, and forend tightened. It had nice surviving case colors on the receiver so that was left alone.

A higher grade with very nice features. Ebony tips behind the side plates, clamshell forend release, wings on the barrels. Tops of barrels are engraved “KRUPP STEEL” and “LEFEVER ARMS CO SYRACUSE N.Y. USA” The marks on bottoms of barrels are the SN and KRUPP FLUID STEEL. Interior of the barrels are clean and shiny with a nice combination of an open choke in the right barrel and a tighter choke for a follow up shot on the left. Traces of the original case on the receiver with nice engraving of the famous lifelike detailed dogs in hunting poses.  Other case and blue more visible in protected areas. Wood around the action is very good with minor chips around the left side plate. Please see pictures. Oval shield is engraved however I am unable to ascertain the initials.  The checkering pattern is exceptional. The beautiful fancy figured stock with the fine checking all still very sharp. Screw slots are all very good less some hourglass slot damage on the trigger adjustment screws.  Action is very tight, great lock up, and no wiggle.  Measurements were done to the best of my ability. Stored in a dry and climate controlled safe.  I uploaded a lot of pictures so they should speak for themselves in regards to condition. This is a very nice higher grade Lefever with nice features. Uncle Dan considered his competition to be English guns, not American makers.  This is a nice classic light twelve gauge gun from a prominent American gun maker for upland hunting in the field.
