Description:
Francotte model 20E 28 gauge, side-plated SxS shotgun. Here are a few adjectives that come to mind when handling this gun: diminutive, dainty, lively, light game gun! Really it is a 4 lb. 12 oz. fabulous upland bird gun made by the famous continental gun maker, Auguste Francotte of Liege, Belgium. Made with 26” barrels that are choked IC/F, perfect bores and a solid tapered rib. The tastefully grade 20E frame has side clips, hidden third fastener and auto ejectors, with automatic safety and double triggers. The dark, handsomely grained straight grip stock has a 14 1/8” LOP to the butt plate, 1 ½” DAC and 2 ½” DAH with a slight cast favoring a right-hand shooter. Matching splinter forearm with Anson release.
The condition is very fine. 99%+ barrel finish, which may have been reblacked professionally. The receiver has traces of colors remaining otherwise faded to a coin finish, screws are perfect, and the engraving is still sharp. The wood is excellent. Note: The stock may have been replaced or refinished at some time however if something was done to freshen the wood it was done expertly.
As I mentioned above this is a fabulous little game gun in excellent condition.
