SNAPHAUNCE FLINTLOCK PISTOL MADE BY AND SIGNED BY FAMOUS BARRELSMITH PIETRO MORETO FROM BRESCIA IN 1660 FOR THE TANARI FAMILY WITH THE TANARI MARQUIS FAMILY CREST. TANARI PALACE BOLOGNA ITALY The building, begun in 1632 and completed in 1671, is probably due to an idea by Giangiacomo Monti; under the portico on Via Galliera is the grandiose statuary group representing the Holy Family, the work of Giacomo de Maria (1785-86). On the main floor there are rooms frescoed by Giuseppe Valliani and Domenico Pedrini (1785 c.) with reliefs by Giacomo De Maria and a large seventeenth-century copper Hercules by Orazio Provaglia. The ancient guides describe the interior enriched by paintings by Guercino (an Assumption and a St. Augustine),a Madonna and Child by Guido Reni, a Sleeping Woman by Annibale Carracci. Among the illustrious guests there was Queen Christina of Sweden in 1656 and here the spouses Anna Bonazinga and Pietro D'Amico also studied.
