Description:

This Smith & Wesson Model 1 Second Issue revolver is circa 1860 to 1868. The 3 3/16"" 22 Short octagon barrel has a fair dark bore with visible rifling. The round 7-shot non-fluted cylinder has the 1855, 1859, and 1860 patent date markings. The barrel assembly is bright with scattered staining and light roughness, especially at the muzzle. The silver plated brass frame retains approx. 85% silver. The rosewood grips are fine with most of their original finish and a couple of small chips on the lower left edge. The action functions correctly. The Model No. 1 was a popular private purchase revolver for Civil War soldiers. This is a nice representative example at a reasonable price.
