Description:
General Specs: Winchester, Year 1906, .38-55 WCF, 7lb 14oz, LOP 13 1/16"
Serial Number: 313131

The Winchester Model 1894 was the first lever rifle able to fire the high-pressure smokeless powder that came with the .30 WCF.  You can just imagine the look on the cowboy’s face when his new special-order Winchester arrived.  The upgraded wood and fine factory finishes would bring jealous envy from all his family and friends.  This rifle, Sn313131 (cool serial number!) built in 1906, is a SPECIAL-ORDER RIFLE with the takedown feature, and as was usual with any special-order Winchester 1894, upgraded and nicely figured wood.  This desirable Model 1894 is in REMARKABLE FACTORY ORIGINAL CONDITION with strong, 98% dark factory barrel blue on the barrel, takedown lever, and magazine tube, great bore with strong rifling from breech to muzzle with light pitting throughout, receiver blue factory 96% left side and about 85% right side with no flaking, loading gate still has strong niter blue, 80% strong case color on the lever and hammer, and nice original finish remaining on the wood.  The screws are all in perfect condition (except one top tang screw) and all the lettering and stamps are crisp and clear.  Most early M1894 rifles have been used hard, so when you find a 115-year-old Winchester Model 1894 in untouched original condition with special-order features it is something to take note of.  Full octagon/full mag tube rifle with crescent steel butt plate in .38-55…the most desirable of the Model 1894 rifles.  This rifle weighs 7lbs 14oz. with its 26” barrel.  The value of collectible Winchester rifles is in the original condition rifles with special-order features and unaltered in any way since leaving the factory.  One issue to be noted, as you likely won’t see it unless you study the photographs very closely, is the damage to the toe of the rifle that was repaired so well it goes unnoticed.  The original piece of wood that cracked was fitted back in long ago and remains solid as new.  You can see it in the photo of the right-hand side of the stock.  The Winchester Model 1894 is appropriate for hunting any large North American game in areas where you can close the distance to within 150 yards or so.  Don’t miss out on your opportunity to own this fine Winchester.  Thanks for looking!
