Description:
Ruger Magnum; M77® Mark II, know as the Ruger Safari Magnum. One of about 1000 made in this caliber, shipped in 1991. RSMs were a Bill Ruger pet project, but they ultimately stopped production because the guns cost more to make than the selling price. Fit and finish on RSMs are the highest quality Rugers ever built.

416 Rigby was designed to be reliable, large cartridge makes for low case pressure unaffected by temperature or dirty conditions. In the 5000-ftlb class like the 458 WinMag, but easier on the shoulder. The 416 Rigby is fully able to stop a charge, and is well above the legal minimums for hunting the "big five". Ammunition costs about the same as 458 and is available overseas too. (see below)

This rifle has no box, it's a shooter in outstanding condition, thoroughly cycled and wrung out with no abuse or damage. (Box: I'll ship it to you in a foam-lined plastic case inside a cardboard box).

Operation is flawless. Panic test —simulating 'Oh cr*p, it's charging'— of bolt slap puts 4 rounds on target in 4 seconds. The bolt glides like silk; cannot jam, no hangs or snags, and no misfeeds. Three-position safety so you can operate the bolt when safed. Works firmly, but can be quietly switched with two fingers on their way to the trigger or simply thumbed forward.

Mirror bore, at 50 yards with iron sights I get 2"-3" groups. All 3 iron sights work, snap into place without play. I haven't sighted the 2 longer distance leafs, but they make it shoot higher so I assume they're right.

Circassian walnut stock in excellent condition, satin-type appearance with no cracks, bruises, or dents. Backed by a Pachmayr Decelerator. There are two marks, shown in the photos with side light.

Metal and finish is as it left the factory with some bluing wear on the muzzle end. Receiver bluing has a slight 'plum' color to the bluing due to molybdenum steel, the bolt handle is mirror-finished black, and all the rest is dark traditional bluing color. A magnifying lens shows 3 small spots (0.010") behind the left muzzle area. Another about the same size on the bolt knob; all hard to see and cannot be felt. Flaws shown in photos using side light.

Included in your purchase, I will ship you (in a seperate package by law) a box and a half of new manufacture 400 grain Hornady DGS to your FFL. About $200 worth at 2018 prices. Also I can provide a receipt, signed digital or paper, to meet ownership requirements overseas.
