Description:
This is a J. Stevens Arms Co., Chipopee Falls, Mass, Model 235 hammer gun with 12 ga 30” barrels bored full & full. It is in new condition except for the butt plate which some storage damage and a hairline crack at the head of the stock. Weight is about seven pounds.  It has perfect bores, 100% brilliant case colors, excellent barrel blue, and 99% original stock varnish. A very rare gun in this condition. There are 2 variations of this model. The earlier one had mono-block STEEL barrels. This is the later one with one-piece barrels tubes.  SN A50023. Valued as a collector gun.
The Model 235 is a boxlock hammer gun made in 12 and 16 gauge from 1907 to 1926. About 61,600 were made. When introduced in the 1907 catalog it was priced at $15. The Model 250 sidelock hammer gun priced at $25 was discontinued as the lowcost leader and replaced with the new “lower-cost” leader the Model 235. It is built on the same frame as the Model 335 hammerless and likely shares many design features such as the barrel drop-down check, bolting and of the minor variations such as change from mono-block barrels to conventional double tube construction.
