Description:
We just received this beautiful shotgun in from the estate. This is a real gem! It is a Winchester Model 42 that was beautifully hand engraved by the now deceased Master Engraver Gino Cargnel. Gino was a very famous engraver that engraved for Browning/FN for many years. Looking at this shotgun you can just tell the quality of his work. There are beautiful multi-colored gold inlay scenes with exquisitely cut scroll surrounds. This example was built by Winchester in 1934 which also makes it a curio. Has a very rare factory solid ribbed 26 inch barrel with a 3 inch chamber and a fixed full choke. The bore looks very minty and shiny. What really stands out on this shotgun (as if the engraving and solid rib weren't enough) is the gorgeous checked California Clairo Walnut stock and fore end. The wood has absolutely gorgeous patterns. There is a small quarter sized spot where the clear coat looks to be peeling on the left side of the stock. Length of pull is about 14.25 inches to the factory Winchester butt plate. This beauty works just as great as it looks with a nice solid action.
