Description:
Factory letter states the shipping date of October 25,1906, Rifle, Caliber 32, checkered stock, pistol grip and $10 engraving #6 pattern. Gun retains about 80% high gloss lacquer on the wood. Hard rubber buttplate. Lyman Ivory bead front sight, flip up rear barrel sight and the scarce Lyman folding tang sight. Game scene engraving with scroll work. This is typical of Stokes who was one of Winchester's engravers during this period. The Ulrich's got recognition for their fine engraving but Stokes did work just as good with little or no recognition. Receiver retains about 50% blue with some toning. 22 inch round barrel shows some wear but still has about 85% blue. This gun has the "WP" on both the receiver and the barrel. It is a Winchester barrel but the "P" indicates someone other than Winchester put this barrel on. The barrel condition matches the gun well.
