Description:
This is a pre war Model 70 manufactured in 1941 prior to Winchester shutting down their domestic firearm production in 1942 and switching to military production. It is chambered in 375 H&H magnum. The barrel is the correct, original medium heavy weight at 25”. Winchester switched to the heavier barrels after 10 guns were fitted with standard barrels started exhibiting inaccuracies due to barrel expansion.
The finish on this rifle is close to 98% not showing any significant wearing on the barrel, floorplate and bolt. The bolt handle is starting to exhibit a brownish patina due to age. The stock is a deluxe upgrade from the factory has some minor handling marks but no cracks. The factory checkering is crisp. The rubber butt is original bearing the Winchester name.
