Description:
This Colt Paterson is a scarce one, however there’s been about 8 to come to market within the last 3 or so years, this being the second I’ve had the pleasure of handling. This example has a natural patina on the frame, cylinder, and barrel. The stock is in very nice condition and doesn’t show the normal wrist pin repair you see on examples although it does show a commonly found crack near the toe and usage throughout. The wood is a bit dry also. That is far from uncommon because of the overall weight this gun carries and when slammed down or dropped from a few inches over its lifetime countless times surely does that deed. No cylinder scene is visible. The loading arm has been repaired and re-stretched to actual size. The ring lever has a slight bit of a droop but does not affect it whatsoever. All serial numbers match including the barrel, cylinder, ring lever, buttplate, cylinder collar, and wedge. Mechanically works well. This example will come with an original and to the period sling. Some other dealers I know have these priced at well over $30,000 to $40,000. This example I have priced at a little less then what I sold the last example for a few years back. A very nice gun and an opportunity to pick an example up reasonably priced.
