Very Fancy with Engraved German Silver, Twist Barrel, Carved Stock
Here we present an antique L.A. Henckels Percussion Target Pistol, manufactured circa the mid-19th century in Berlin, Germany. Henckels was a German gunmaker in the 1850s. This stately pistol features a swamped, twist, octagonal barrel, engraving throughout, German silver pommel cap, trigger guard, and escutcheons, and a nicely figured and checkered wooden stock. Single set trigger. The top of the barrel is marked by the maker: “L.A. HENCKELS IN BERLIN”.
The overall condition is very good. The action is excellent and the bore is deeply rifled. The stock is in great shape. There is a series of short splits on the left side at the top edge where the lock screw head is located that are stable and are typical of this design. A very handsome single shot percussion pistol!
