VERY FINE CONDITION 1885 HIGHWALL, .32-40 #3 WEIGHT 30" OCTAGON BARREL RIFLE, #77XXX, MADE 1896. A most attractive single shot, this one shows fine dark case colors on the receiver sides with traces on the receiver ring etc. The entire receiver has aged dark and shows no sign of ever being cleaned (fortunately). The barrel retains deep blue overall and all markings are sharp. It is fitted with a Lyman tang sight and folding globe Beach front sight. The rear barrel dovetail is empty. Wood is excellent showing little handling and exhibiting tight wood to metal fit. Bore is fairly bright and excellent with a few surface marks mainly ahead of the chamber that may just be leading that may scrub out- either way it is minor. I called this one in to the Cody Museum and got a call-in sheet confirming caliber, barrel etc. No mention of the sights, which is typical. Overall, a really nice Highwall much finer than usually encountered.
