Description:
This is an early Winchester 1886 .40-65 with a Cody Museum letter. The receiver still shows some of it's original case coloring with the rest faded to a grey patina. The 26" barrel retains most of it's original bluing but has light rusting throughout. The bore and chamber are good with strong rifleing. The magazine tube and forearm cap appear to be replacements for a half magazine that was on it at one time. There is a retaining pin groove in the bottom of the barrel 3" forward of the endcap.(see pics) Sights are original equipment. The wood retains it's original finish and has some dings and scratches but is solid. I tried to show the noticeable dings in the pictures and a 3/4" crack on the right side of the forearm near the endcap. The action is tight and functions as designed. It should be a good shooter. Shipping will be by UPS ground with insurance and tracking. This antique can be shipped directly to your door unless your local laws prohibit that.
