Carswell of Liverpool, built circa 1925. The 30" nitro-proofed barrels have 2 1/2" chambers and excellent bores, choked .008/.022 (about improved cylinder/modified.) The rib is engraved: W. C. CARSWELL. LIVERPOOL. The receiver features excellent bouquet and scroll engraving. The ejectors are strong and in time, and the gun locks up tight with its concealed third fastener. The fore-end has an Anson push-rod release. The figured stock measures 1 5/8" x 2 1/8" x 14 3/8" with very slight cast off. The weight is 6 lbs 14 oz. A very handsome English bird gun. Note: William Carswell established his business in Liverpool in 1913. In 1920 he acquired the gunmaking firms of E. & G. Higham and Hooten & Jones. The Carswell firm finally closed its doors in 1982.
