Description:
Here is a fine sidelock ejector by William C. Carswell of Liverpool, built circa 1925.  The 30" nitro-proofed barrels have 2 1/2" chambers and excellent bores, choked .008/.022 (about improved cylinder/modified.)  The rib is engraved: W. C. CARSWELL. LIVERPOOL.  The receiver features excellent bouquet and scroll engraving.  The ejectors are strong and in time, and the gun locks up tight with its concealed third fastener.  The fore-end has an Anson push-rod release.  The figured stock measures 1 5/8" x 2 1/8" x 14 3/8" with very slight cast off.  The weight is 6 lbs 14 oz.  A very handsome English bird gun.

Note: William Carswell established his business in Liverpool in 1913.  In 1920 he acquired the gunmaking firms of E. & G. Higham and Hooten & Jones.  The Carswell firm finally closed its doors in 1982.
