Description:
This is an original Model 1853 French Sword of the Military Justice and Gendarmerie. This is the Sword of Brigade Chief of the Gendarmerie and sub-officer of Military Justice of the Gendarmerie. The Model 1853 was transformed in 1872. The Gendarmerie is a military force with law enforcement duties among the civilian population. The sword has a flat blade with two edges and two gutters separated by an edge on 2/3 thirds of its length. The Blade measures 30-1/2” Long and the total sword measures 37” long. The knuckle guard has a Lector’s beam without an ax but with an apical pike, against a background of eight flags.
