Payment Types Accepted: M/C, VISA, American Express and Discover Description: " This 22 caliber Martin-Henry rifle is marked on the left side of the receiver CONVERTED BY C.G.BONEHILL OF BIRMINGHAM over FOR THE SOCIETY OF MINATURE RIFLE CLUBS. The Society of Miniature Rifle Clubs was started in 1901. The Duke of Norfolk was the Chairman. For several years, the Society was successful in promoting the formation of miniature (22 caliber) rilfe clubs and miniature rifle matches. Various manufacturers built and altered firearms for the clubs. This Mark II Martini-Henry rifle was manufactured by Enfield in 1878. The right side of the receiver is marked with a crown over V.R. (Queen Victoria) over ENFIELD over 1878 over a crown with broad arrow over II over 2. The receiver and barrel have various British inspection and proof marks. The top of the chamber is marked AMMUNITION over .22. The top of the barrel in front of the rear sight which appears to be fixed for 22 caliber ammunition is stamped C.G.BONEHILL BIRMINGHAM. The 30"" 22 caliber sleeved barrel has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling. The face of the muzzle is marked RIFLED BY ALF. J. PARKER. The metal has a strong smooth blue-brown finish. The stock, which was refinished at conversion, is very good with light usage dents and dings. Issue stamps on both sides of the butt are visible. The buttplate was nicely checkered during the conversion. The swivels are present and the cleaning rod, which would not work on the 22 caliber bore, is absent. The action functions correctly. This rifle would be a great fit in an early target rifle collection. SOLD |
