I have found this ammo to be flawless.
I purchased it for my store after being told about its availability from a reliable ammo distributor, and subsequently for myself after seeing it and speaking with a knowledgable shooter.
It is among the cleanest shooting, 5.56 out there. It performs well over 3,000 FPS and is known to be extremely accurate.
AR's with a 1:9 twist will have no problem stabilzing the bullet. Steel tip bullets are well known for excellent penetration for hunting heavy amimals.
I have enough for my personal needs, but if this ammo were once again available on the wholesale market I would get more to sell.
There is no green pain on the tip, but it has a steel core, and will be lifted by a magnet
The plastic stripper clips are Thermold clips. They won't work with a USGI clip guide, but they do work in a Strip-lula, or with the Thermold charger.
There is a loader included that is made for the stripper cllips.
Almost all of the ammo is in the three to a box 10 rd. stripper clips. There is at least one box of 20 in a brand stamped box. Plus ten in a clip in the loader
The ammo is headstamped IVI - Industries Valcartier Inc., Valcartier, Quebec, Canada. The company was icorporated into SNC Technologies Inc. The Ammo is from 1985. The primers are sealed, albeit the cases are a bit dulled from storage.
The ammo can was opened to inspect it when purchased in 1991, and once again several years ago to inventory it after a move. Aside from those tiimes they have remained in the sealed ammo can until the can was just opened to photograph it for sale.
