This is the last of my 5 Winchester model 23's. This one is rare as few were made. I purchased it new, from the downtown Denver Gart Brothers store in 1985. It was my favorite gun, used mainly for pheasants, until I discovered British doubles, in 2012. The only blemishes were added by me when I took a tumble on a talus slope while hunting ptarmigan above timberline (see photo). The straight stock measures 14-3/8"x 1-1/2"x 2-1/2" and is made from a high-grade crotch grain American walnut. The finish has surficial scratches from normal hunting use. The barrels are 25.5" with clean, shiny bores, 3" chambers, ring like chimes, has chokes of IC/Mod, and sports a beavertail forend. It locks up tight with the top lever still to the right. It has a single slelctive triger, and an automatic safety with an integral barrel selector. I have the original box, a Winchester canvas case, and all of the original papers, hanging tags in the unopened plastic bag (untouched by human hands since shipping). I am also including a Winchester Classic Doubles catalog with information about the 23 lightweight.
