Springfield 1903 Rifle .30-06 in excellent condition. The rifle shows a very early script serial number of 20576 giving a manufacture year 1904.
On January 11th 1905, Theodore Roosevelt halted production of the 1903 Rifle and demanded that the rod bayonet to be removed from future production and all existing rifles be converted to accept a blade style bayonet.
This example is one of the rifles that was originally manufactured with a rod bayonet.
