PROBABLY FIRST FULL YEAR OF PRODUCTION PRE-34 MODEL 1953 22/32 KIT GUN WITH ROUND BUTT AND 2" BARREL, #4XXX, MADE 1953-1954. This one is easy to date because starting in 1955 the upper side plate screw was deleted, and this one has that screw. This remarkable example appears about unfired with only a hint of a cylinder ring and all of the blue remaining on the front face of the cylinder. In all, there is no wear to the blue. This is a flat latch, improved "I" frame revolver with diamond checkered walnut grips that are number-stamped on the inside and match the cylinder, frame and barrel numbers. Like most .22s, these early Kit Guns are typically found in fairly used/shot/carried condition. This super early example with the side plate screw found only on pre-1955 guns is superb. It would be difficult to find another 4-screw example like this much less one in this condition.
