O. Sunderland, a former designer for High Standard. The Dura-Matic represents High Standard's less expensive, entry level gun in their automatic series. Like the Dura-Matic M-100, the M-101 has a slightly different locking method for thumb nut take-down. There is not a separate slide lock on this gun. The manual safety lever functions as the slide lock during disassembly. The M-101 model (with Dura-Matic stamped on the left side of the barrel) was made between 1954 and 1970. M-101 is stamped on the right side of the slide. In 1970, the M-101 model was renamed "The Plinker" (which is stamped on the left side of the barrel on this gun). The Plinker was manufactured between 1970 and 1973. SN = 2312931. The SN on the frame matches the SN on the slide. This gun was made in 1972. 1972 production started with SN = 2282294 and ended with SN = 2356207 The factory installed plastic one-piece grip has a significant crack starting at the top of the left side, around the rear of the grip and ending at the top of the right side (see photos).
