Jung circa the 1930s in Pfortzheim, Germany. The Jung family has been involved in weapons manufacturing of one kind or another for nearly 600 years. This rifle features a beautifully engraved receiver and a distinctive custom fit butt stock. The engraving features a stately red deer on one side with a chamois on the other with clear Germanic floral engraving making up the balance. The trigger guard is large and is designed to be used as a pistol grip. Double set trigger that barely needs a thought to press, it is so light. The barrel is 29-5/8 inches long and octagonal. Chambered for 8.15x46mm Rimmed. This rifle was hand engraved by R. Fahner in Phorzheim, Germany. Theodor Fahrner (4 August 1859 – 22 July 1919) was a trained steel engraver and jewelry designer from Pforzheim, Germany. He was known for his Art Nouveau and Jugendstil pieces. After his death, his firm became one of the best-known Art Deco designers in Germany. It is likely that R. Fahner was his son continuing on in the steel engraving business. The overall condition is fine. Original blue, case colors, and patina. Robust action. Reflective bore with sharp rifling. Solid stock throughout, and the checkering remains sharp. The stag scene engravings on the frame are well-defined. Clear markings. BUG proofed on the underside of the barrel along with “172/28” for cartridge designation. Here is an incredible example of German craftsmanship from the 1930s! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel: 29 5/8 inches. Caliber: 8.15x46R Overall condition as seen in photos.
