Description:
The rifle is a late 70's custom rifle consisting of a Custom Springfield 1903-A3 military action made by Smith Corona with a barrel made and chambered by Mc Gowen in 257 Ackley Improved. A set of full length dies and a neck only sizing die from RCBS is included. I was told the stock is a Fagen Aristocrat. The barrel is 24 inches long and bright and shiny with sharp rifling. Metal work is bright polished blue similar to the Weatherby Mark V Deluxe. There are some stock scratches as can be seen in the photos but the metal is excellent. One advantage of the 257 Ackley Improved is that you can use 257 Roberts or 257 Ackley Improved ammo. Cool vintage rifle in a very attractive caliber reminiscent of the time gun lovers were building rifles of their dreams..
