The barrel to frame fit is very tight and and latches crisp as new, along with an excellent bore as well. The Action is nice and cycles clean and crisp. This gun was one featured in an article in "Man at Arms" magazine page 22 in 2009. In talking with Mr. Ron Curtis, the author of the article and S&W #2 Army researcher, he stated that this is one of about 15 or so that he has come across in his research, that had a shoulder stock period to the date of manufacture in 1873. No #2 Armys were equipped with a stock from the S&W factory, however, there were several period alterations as this one, but very rare. A very unique item and in very nice condition. A copy of the magazine is included with the purchase of the gun. This is a really nice S&W that displays very nice as well, and would be a nice addition to any collection of Old West arms.
