Payment Types Accepted: Checks, Credit Cards, PayPal Description: This is an original German made early 1800’s ARTILLERY SHORT SWORD in nice untouched condition. The Sword is marked on one side of the blade "GEBR. WEYERSBERG SOLINGEN; on the spine of the blade are the proof mark - Crown over FW, 61, Crown over P; on the brass handguard the artillery unit marking - # 261. The blade measures 18-1/2” long and the thickness of the blade measures a full 1/4 inch. The blade is all original and never sharpened, polished, reground, or bent. The only damage to the blade is two very light nicks. There's some scattered extremely light rust spotting, but nothing ugly, and no pitting at all. The markings are all crisp and easily visible. The brass cross guard is very stout and perfect. The handle is a dark wood with some cracks. The sword measures overall 23-1/2” long. The Faschinenmesser (Fascine Knife in English) this type of sword was used by infantry and artillery regiments of various German States from the late 1700’s until the end of WWI.
