SOLD PENDING FUNDS

This is a 12 gauge Spanish/Basque/Eibar side-plated boxlock with beautiful deep scroll engraving throughout. It has the initials JB stamped on the barrel flats and on the watertable. It was most likely built by Juan Antonio Belategui prior to 1983. In 1983 Belategui entered into the DIARM consortium fiasco that lasted until 1988, when it took many, formerly independent gun makers, under with it's demise. There are no markings to exactly date this gun. It has great, modern dimensions: 14-1/8"x1-3/8"x2-1/8", and shoots well at clays and pheasants with it's chokes of modified and improved modified. The 27-3/4" chopper lump barrels appear to have been polished and reblued, and still retain a minimum wall thickness of .26" near the chokes and .47" near the 2-3/4" chambers. It has a hand-filed flat rib with a brass bead front sight. I did not like the yellowed shellac or varnish finish of the stock, so I refinished it last year with a hand-rubbed oil and oil polymer finish, which shows off the grain of a rather plain stock. There are some minor scratches to the finish, since I used this gun frequently. The butt is checkered wood. The forend has a few chips on the inside that extend a little to the outside, along the left barrel. The forend iron has a small ding on the bottom skirt edge. It also has gold-plated double trigers, and a top tang, automatic slide safety. It has been a reliable gun for me.
