The 42½" round .69 caliber barrel has a good bore. All metal has a smooth brown patina with a little roughness around the bolster. The stock, with recessed cheek piece, is very good with no cracks and issue wear. The nipple is battered and ramrod is an incorrect period replacement. H. Boker & Co. of New York imported approximately 8,000 of these muskets during the Civil War. They were altered to percussion in Belgium, using the French method, by adding a reinforces bolster to the top right side of the barrel. This musket is in that configuration. The action functions correctly, with the exception of the hammer can be released in half-cock with a trigger pull. Musket comes with a sling that is of the period and is supple. This is a nice example of a Civil War import musket. It would look good in any Civil War or musket collection. SOLD Antique: Yes |
