Description:
Rifle barrel 1903 Springfield 30-06 manufacture by R.F. Sedgley with barrel date 1/44

This 1903 Springfield 30-06 rifle barrel manufacture by  R.F. Sedgley is as new with no vise marks. The bore is as new with sharp 4 grove rifling and bright and shiny with no rust or pitting. There are no dark rings or circles inside the barrel. It has the standard parkerized finish of light gray. The barrel is marked just behind the front site base with USMC, date of 1-44, with a capital S inside a circle. This would indicate the barrel was made by Sedgley for the 1903 Springfield rifle used by the US Marines. The caliber is 30-06 sprgfld. The barrel has been pin gauged with a .299 + pin gauge that will slide smoothly through with no tight or loose spots indicated. It is 24 inches long and has the front site base (no beaded ramp in the dovetail slot). The rear site base is for the 1905 long range  adjustable site use on the 1903 Springfield (site not included) not for the  1903 A3 rear peep site. This barrel is ideal for replacing a worn 2 grove barrel on your 1903 Springfield with a preferred as new 4 grove barrel. Please review all pics as they are of the actual barrel you will receive if you choose to purchase. My research found that some of the late Sedgley barrels were damaged and  repaired by straightening but were not accurate. Pin gauge testing was one of the methods used to judge the quality of a barrel. This barrel passes that test; however I am not a gunsmith or machinist so please do your own research and view all my comments and photos to help you reach a decision to buy.   Please e- mail or call  if you have questions and I will return your call or e- mail.  I will do my best to answer your questions honestly from the knowledge level of a 1903 Springfield fan.
