Description:
This is a very nice engraved Martini Cadet marked as having been made by WW Greener. The rifle is in excellent condition and has a great bore. The stock is very nicely figured wood with very nice checkering, and a Niedner style buttplate. The barrel is a varmint weight barrel, 28" long and has an excellent bore. The barrel is fitted with target blocks. (For $600 I can fit it with an 8X Unertl scope in dehorned mounts, Pictures available). The caliber is marked as 6.3x47. (It is a wild cat made up of a 25 caliber bullet on a 222 Magnum cartridge case.) Herbert R Longo is a famous wildcatter who played with the 25 caliber cartridges and was written about by Harvey Donaldson himself in his book "Wildcat Cartridges" which was published in 1947. This rifle is tastefully engraved "E.L. Longo, Scranton PA " between the target blocks. I know there is/or was a Gunshop in Scranton for an E.L Longo. I havent found any further information. I had dies made for this rifle from Whidden Inc, and they are also very nice. The photos are accurate. This is a very handsome rifle. Perfect for ground hogs...
