Description:
This is a custom build on a high serial number Rock Island Springfield 1903 action. It also has the later style bolt made from nickle steel with the swept bolt handle. The barrel was made by Benchmark Rifle barrels in Arlington Washington with a 1:8 twist so you can shoot the heavier bullets in the 220 Swift. The barrel contour was copied from an original NRA sporter rifle. The sights are the same, ie a Lyman 48 rear sight and the 1903 Armory front sight. The stock was duplicated in black walnut from an original NRA sporter stock and we kept the original Springfield NRA Sporter butt plate and barrel band. Target blocks were installed and it comes with a Unertl 10X scope with excellent optics, and standard crosshairs. I wanted to create a 1903 NRA sporter that wasnt in 30-06 and which could be used for varmint hunting. It loves the heavier 22 cal bullets from Hornady and Berger. Photos are accurate.
