Guns Listing ID: 416309 1885 Winchester low wall 22 short 3rd Model “Winder” Musket Here we have an 1885 Winchester single shot rifle, serial number 126194, likely made in 1916. This is the military styled training rifle commonly called a 3rd model “Winder” musket. This is chambered in .22 short and the bore and chamber are perfect! The forend however has been cut off flush with the barrel band. The unaltered forends do come up for sale occasionally and that is all it would take to put this back to 100% correct. Barrel and lever retain almost all the original blue with the receiver having flaked and turned mostly plumb brown, very typical of some Winchesters of this era. The buttstock is in beautiful condition. Rifle was completely disassembled and detail cleaned and lubed by a Professional Gunsmith a few years ago. Lyman rear sight works perfectly! Please look at the photos as they are part of the description and ask any and all questions before . This gun is being sold as is with no warranty expressed or implied.
