Payment Types Accepted: M/C, VISA, American Express and Discover Description: " Only about 38,000 Type 99 Japanese long rifles were manufactured by two arsenals, Toyo Kogyo and Nagoya. Of these, Nagoya Arsenal produced fewer than 8,300. This Nagoya Arsenal 7.7mm Japanese caliber Type 99 Long Rifle is serial number 2592. The receiver, bolt, firing pin, and nose cap numbers match. The only visible mismatch is the safety knob which is 533 (vs. 592). The barreled receiver was not removed from the stock to check further as it appears that this rifle has never been disassembled. The 31"" barrel has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling. The gun has approx. 97% blue finish. The front barrel band is the 3 screw type. A correct type (but too short) cleaning rod is present. The rear barrel band is the monopod type without the monopod. The rear sight is graduated to 1500 meters. It is missing the elevation slide and antiaircraft wings. As usual, the Royal Chrysanthemum has been removed from the top of the receiver. The characters signifying 99 Type are present. The two-piece buttstock and short handguard are fine with light issue dents and dings. The stock drain hole is forward of the front trigger guard tang. The stock has the early style cupped shet metal buttplate. The swivels are present and there is a leather sling that is very similar to some Type 38 sliings. The action functions correctly. This scarce rifle would look great in your WWII or Japanese rifle collection. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
