Sauer, Year 1932, 28 Gauge, 4lb 11oz, Chokes .009/.015 LM /IM, LOP 13 1/2", DAH 2 1/2", DAC 1 1/2" Serial Number: 26180 Ask any shooter/collector of fine vintage shotguns about Charles Daly labeled guns and you will soon know that guns sold by Charles Daly were of the highest quality. Daly guns were made by several gunmaking firms, but none are more sought after than the “Prussian Daly” guns, this one built by J.P. Sauer in 1932. The beauty of these Prussian Daly guns cannot be understated. Just look at the sculpted frame and breech balls, the detail in the engraving, the scalloped action, the perfect wood to metal fit, gorgeous French walnut stock, with finely checkered raised side panels, superb checkering and an elegant forend with delicately shaped buffalo horn schnabel tip. Even the safety button is a work of art! This gun has class that is not found in today's gun world until you hit guns costing 3 times as much as this one. THE WOOD, BARRELS, ACTION, AND TRIGGER GUARD REMAIN IN FACTORY ORIGINAL, UNTOUCHED CONDITION, the action still showing 99% vivid factory case color, clear sharp English scroll engraving with shaded background, perfect screws, and elegant sculpting. The 26” KRUPP STEEL barrels retain 99% of their original blue, have no dents or dings, bores are mirror shiny, lettering and rib matting sharp as new, dolls head rib extension perfectly mated to the action, choked LM/IM (see specs below this paragraph) with factory 2 1/2” chambers (the barrels are substantial and the chambers can safely be made to be 2 ¾” with long forcing cones if the next owner chooses within 5 days of purchase), ribs are tight, and the barrels fit tight on the hinge pin and breech face. The wood is finely figured French walnut, retaining most of its original hand-rubbed oil finish and finely cut checkering showing no wear from use. We installed a gorgeous Purdey style leather covered pad as a finishing touch of elegance. The leather covered pad is easy on the eye and has the perfect blend of easy mounting and good “stick” to the shoulder. The wood-to-metal fit is superb and there are no cracks or repairs. The mechanics are in perfect working order, with strong well-timed ejectors, crisp triggers, and tight lock up. This amazing gun has 7 locking points including a hidden Greener cross bolt, dolls head rib extension, barrel lug through the bottom of the action, double underlug bites, and side clips. All these features keep the barrels tightly mated to the action during the firing sequence. At 4lbs. 11oz. and balanced nicely between the hands, this gun is lightning fast and would make for an easy carry all day afield. As most small-bore enthusiasts are aware, finely made vintage side x side shotguns are a rare find and always bring a serious premium compared to their 12 bore stablemates. The Prussian Daly guns are an extremely good value…one of the finest made guns money can buy, and we have priced this gun to be affordable to most any gunner that wants to chase birds and clays with a little gun and a little romance and a lot of class! This gun is obviously set up for a small statured shooter with its 13 ½” LOP. If you love the gun but need a longer LOP, we can restock the gun to your dimensions and with your choice of highly figured walnut by our in-house stockmaker. Our workmanship is impeccable.
